Fees & Billing Principles

Our practice offers bulk billing to anyone holding a Valid Medicare card with no out-of-pocket cost for consultations 7 days a week.

Doctors At Station Street-Officer has an appointment system that caters to urgent, non-urgent, complex, planned chronic care, and preventative healthcare needs.

Urgent appointments are prioritised, and patients should advise the reception if they require an urgent appointment. The nurse on duty triages urgent appointments.

Waiting times may occur if GPs are delayed by patients with urgent or complex issues.

Payment is required on the day of the appointment and in some cases prior to your appointment. 

*Patients not holding a valid Medicare card are billed $80.00 for a standard consultation and $120.00 for a long consultation.

There is no Medicare rebate  for procedures, the cost varies with the type of procedure and its complexity; please ensure you enquire about any costs prior to the procedure. There is no Medicare rebate for this fee. For further details please speak to your Doctor or Nurse.

Travel vaccines will incur an additional fee
A more comprehensive list of fees is displayed in our waiting room area. Please ask our reception staff if you have any questions about fees that are not addressed by the information displayed. It is practice policy that all accounts are settled in full on the day of your consultation.

WALK-IN'S

-We accept walk-ins , however there may be an unavoidable wait as priority is given to patients who have a booked appointment with their GP.

All Walkins will be Triaged upon arrival and attended to as the requirement for Urgent Care is assessed.

 

 

TELEPHONING THE PRACTICE AND YOUR DOCTOR

If you have any questions for your doctor, our friendly reception staff will be able to take a message and get back to you at a convenient time.

To ensure our patients get the best quality care, we do not pass on phone calls to our doctors while they’re consulting unless it is of an urgent nature.

If you are trying to get in touch with the practice outside of our opening hours, please leave us a voicemail message with your name, phone number and reason for calling and our friendly reception staff will return your call as soon as possible.

Alternatively, you can email your enquiry to reception@dassofficer.au. Please note that email should not be used to contact the practice in an emergency. We suggest you read our Electronic Communication Policy if you would like to get in touch via email.

If you have had X-rays or scans, films can be collected at the reception desk.

Electronic Communication Policy (such as SMS, E-mail and Fax)

When our patients register for their first consultation, our check-in system obtains consent to communicate electronically.

Patients must be aware that electronic communications such as email and SMS carry risk of interception or incorrect receipt by an unintended recipient. This consent indemnifies Doctors At Station Street-Officer from any harm caused as a result of electronic communications.

After-hour care and Home visits

In the event of an emergency, please call 000 for an ambulance.

If you’re feeling sick and unable to attend the practice, Doctors At Station Street-Officer offers Telehealth consultations so you can sort out most issues from the comfort of your own home.

If you require care while we are closed, please contact DoctorDoctor on 132 660 or visit their website at www.doctordoctor.com.au to book online. DoctorDoctor provide home visits and after hour care and a health summery could be sent to your usual doctor after your consultation.

We will only communicate with an email address or phone number that has been verified as belonging to the patient. Unverified addresses or numbers will not be sent communications.

Finally, Doctors At Station Street-Officer does not communicate information that may be of a sensitive nature electronically to patients or relevant health organisations unless the doctor deems this is appropriate.

Translator Services

For patients with language difficulties a telephone translator service can be arrange on 131 450. For patients with hearing difficulties an Auslan interpretors can be arranged on 1300 287 526. Please advise the receptionist if you think this might be needed.

Work Cover and TAC Claims

All work cover and TAC patients will be billed privately . Patients will be required to pay for their medical services directly to at the time of their appointment or as per the billing arrangements agreed upon.

Payment Terms

Payment is expected at the time of service. We accept cash, credit card, and EFTPOS. Patients can also opt to receive the Medicare rebate in their bank account within 1-2 working days, provided their banking details are registered with Medicare. 

Workers compensation patients must provide a claim number each time they present for a consultation.

Payment for Workcover/TAC is expected at the time of service. We accept cash, credit card, and EFTPOS. 

We understand that unexpected medical expenses can be a burden, and we encourage patients who are experiencing financial hardship to discuss payment options with our team. 

Cancellation Policy

We understand that sometimes life gets busy or your plans change, and you may need to cancel your appointment with us.

To ensure that other patients can access our medical services, we asks that you cancel your unwanted appointment at least 3 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation fee. In urgent situations, we will always do our best to accommodate your needs.  

Patients who do not arrive for their appointment or missed telehealth appointments will be charged a DNA fee of $30.00 on weekdays and $40.00 on weekends. This fee is to be cleared before another consultation can be booked in. Medicare rebate does not apply. 

We kindly send SMS reminders as a courtesy, but it is important for patients to actively manage their scheduled appointments. Please be aware that not responding to the SMS reminder does not serve as a notice of cancellation.

If you fail to cancel and/or attend more than two consecutive appointments without prior discussion and agreement with your doctor or our reception staff, reserves the right to decline further appointment requests at the clinic. In such a scenario, you may be accommodated as a walk-in patient, which could entail a lengthy wait or, in some cases, being unable to be seen at all.

Early cancellations enable us to offer the appointment slot to another patient on the waiting list. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter.
